Augusto Pinzon was a Colonel in the Colombian National Police and the commander of the Search Bloc in 1992.
Pinzon disliked working with the Americans, and was stubborn in allowing the DEA to use his men for field operations. After his escape from prison, drug lord Pablo Escobar began a massive killing operation against the Search Bloc. The murder of 30 officers led Pinzon to resign. He was replaced by his predecessor Horacio Carrillo.
