Leyenda operatives firing at Guadalajara cartel gunmen.
The DEA plotted to deal a significant blow to the Guadalajara cartel by attempting to sabotage the newly air-smuggling network established by Amado Carrillo Fuentes to smuggle 70 tons of Colombian cocaine into the United States of America.
Carrillo Fuentes became aware of a electronic tracker present in one of his newly purchased Boeing 727, and decided to set up an ambush at a cartel airfield in Chiapas, unbeknownst that it was the DEA tracking him. The ambush was successful, as the cartel ended up killing DEA agents and several mercenaries employed by them, forcing the DEA to put an abrupt end to Operation Leyenda and recall Special Agent Walt Breslin.
Carrillo Fuentes delivered the 70 tons of cocaine the next day, successfully launching his air smuggling network which would later earn him the nickname 'The Lord of the Skies'.
