The Dirección Federal de Seguridad (DFS; English: 'Federal Security Directorate') was a highly-corrupt Mexican intelligence agency.
Created with American assistance to resist communism in Latin America, the DFS became notoriously corrupt by helping the ruling party in maintaining it's majority for over 3 decades, was widely involved in several human rights violations throughtout the country, targeted left-wing thoughts and activists, and during it's final years, was involved in a partnership with the Guadalajara cartel; going as far as to kidnap an American federal agent for the cartel to torture and kill.
The DFS was merged with another intelligence agency in 1985.
