Guadalupe Leija Serrano de Palma was the wife of drug trafficker Héctor Palma Salazar.
A feud between the Sinaloan and Tijuanan smugglers of the Guadalajara Cartel took away much of her husband's time, and she began having an affair with Rafael Enrique Clavel, Félix Gallardo's driver.
Her husband was indignant over Félix Gallardo's alleged softness towards the Arellano-Félix family and planned on breaking away from the cartel. When Félix came to know of this, he sent El Azul to kill Palma and his family. However, Clavel warned Guadalupe of the attack and Palma successfully thwarted off the attempt on his life. He subsequently moved his family to a motel, and disappeared.
In 1989, Palma's lieutenant El Chapo convinced Félix Gallardo to allow him back into the business with approval of all the plaza bosses. Félix Gallardo, in order to instill fear among the plaza bosses has Clavel murder Guadalupe and her two children. Clavel picked them up from their motel, and drove them to a bridge, where he killed them and threw their bodies off the bridge into the river flowing underneath. Palma avenged his family's execution by tracking down Clavel and beat him to death with a baseball bat.
