Hector was a Mexican marijuana farmer in Sinaloa, working for Pedro Avilés. He was Rafael Caro Quintero's mentor.
In 1980, several of his fields were raided by the Mexican Army during Operation Condor. On day, as he was explaining his granddaughter about identifying the exact time to harvest poppies, the military arrive at his ranch, looking for Caro Quintero. As Caro Quintero fled in his motorcycle, Hector was killed by a soldier as he tried to bring his granddaughter to safety.
