Hernan Naranjo was a Mexican drug trafficker active in the city of Guadalajara. He controlled drug trafficking in the city along with his brother, Hernin Naranjo with support from the DFS.
His brother is shot and killed by Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo, one of Pedro Avilés' men. Hernan swears revenge against Félix Gallardo, and has DFS agent Tomas Morlet arrest Félix, along with his partners Ernesto Fonseca Carrillo and Rafael Caro Quintero. Félix Gallardo however introduces DFS Commander Juan José Esparragoza Moreno to a new strain of seedlesss weed grown by Caro Quintero, which carries the same weight in a lower volume. Impressed by the weed, Esparragoza Moreno terminates his partnership with the Naranjo brothers by killing Hernan, and begins working with Félix Gallardo, paving a path for the Guadalajara cartel; which would go on to become one of Mexico's most powerful drug cartels.
