Hugo Martinez, Jr. was a Colombian police officer and a member of the Search Bloc.
He enlisted in the Search Bloc immediately after graduation from a military school, which also prompted his father Colonel Hugo Martinez to take up the job despite refusing it earlier. Despite his eagerness, Martinez Jr. was not suited for field duty as he was effortlessly disarmed by Carlos Castaño Gil during an intense encounter between the police and Los Pepes. His father then transferred him to technical services, and worked as a radio operator.
He immediately became skilled in radio triangulation, and located Pablo Escobar in December 1993, which ultimately led to the raid which killed the infamous drug lord. After Escobar's death, Martinez Jr. still continued to serve in technical services.
He passed away after a car accident in 2003.
