John Gavin (April 8th, 1931 - February 9th, 2018) was the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico from 1981 to 1986. He was in office during the kidnapping and subsequent murder of Enrique Camarena. Prior to his ambassadorship, Gavin had been an actor, best known for playing the boyfriend in the 1960 horror film Psycho.
