Narcos Wiki

Mexico is a country in the southern part of North America and the location for most of the events in Narcos: Mexico. It is bordered by the United States of America to the north and by Guatemala to the south. Mexico is composed of 31 states and has a rich cultural and historical background. It is the most populous Spanish-speaking country in the world.

Mexico is the birthplace of the Guadalajara cartel and most of its members. The DEA has offices in Mexico, and one of its major goals is to stop drug trafficking in the country.

Notable Places[]

Mexico City:[]

Mexico City is Mexico's capital and most populous city. It is used as a metonym for the Mexican federal government and its politicians. Both the DEA and the Guadalajara cartel seek favor from Mexico City's powerful figures to help achieve their goals.

Guadalajara:[]

Guadalajara is the capital of Jalisco state and a major cultural hub (mariachi music was invented there).

Prior to the series, the Naranjo brothers controlled the city's drug trade. Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo later turns the city into the center of his cartel, running his operations from the Hotel Americas. Rancho Búfalo, on the city's outskirts, was Rafa's 540-hectare marijuana farm, and the crown jewel of Gallardo's empire. The cartel controls most of the city's police force, including DFS agents.

Kiki Camarena worked at the Guadalajara DEA office.

Tijuana:[]

Tijuana is the Baja Peninsula's largest city, sitting near the U.S. - Mexico border. Its location makes it important with tourists crossing the border, and it has close connections with the U.S.

Alberto Sicilia Falcon controlled the Tijuana corridor's cocaine trafficking while allowing the Arellano Felix brothers to ship marijuana up north. Félix Gallardo considered control of this route crucial when forming his cartel. Sicilia Falcon initially allies with Gallardo, but is betrayed after the cartel starts shipping Colombian cocaine through Mexico itself, not Tijuana. After the DFS kills Sicilia Falcon, Gallardo takes direct control of the city's trafficking.
