Rodrigo Lara Bonilla was a former Colombian Minister of Justice, who was assassinated by the orders of Pablo Escobar after Lara exposed Escobar as a drug trafficker in the Colombian House of Representatives, bringing an abrupt end to the latter's political ambitions.
After exposing Escobar, Lara became the 'most wanted man' in Colombia as he went after Escobar's associates José Rodríguez Gacha, Carlos Lehder and the Ochoa brothers, and for his own safety, was appointed as the Ambassador to Czechoslovakia, but was gunned down by Pablo's men before he could leave the country.
