The third and final season of Narcos: Mexico was officially confirmed by Netflix on October 28, 2020.[1]
Synopsis[]
Following the dismantlement of Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo's plaza system, the third season will focus on the Sinaloa, Tijuana, and Juárez cartels, now independent and headed into a war for power. The new episodes take place in the '90s, when the globalization of the drug business ignites.[1]

Production[]
With the renewal announcement, it was confirmed that former showrunner Eric Newman would be stepping aside to work on other projects at Netflix, with Carlo Bernard (co-creator, and executive producer of the franchise since the original Narcos series) assuming the role. It was also confirmed that Diego Luna would not be returning as Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo.
Wagner Moura, who portrayed Pablo Escobar in the first two seasons of Narcos and had a cameo in Narcos: Mexico, is set to direct two episodes of the season.[1]
