Wilber Varela (known for his nicknames El Jabón, El Negro, El Jefe and El Comandante) (November 6, 1957-January 30, 2008) was a high ranking member of the Norte del Valle cartel.
He was Orlando Henao Montoya's right-hand man during the 80s and 90s, and introduced Mexican socialite Isabella Bautista to Henao. In August 1995, he led the drive-by shooting which killed David Rodriguez, effectively ending the Cali cartel.
He became the main leader of the Norte del Valle cartel after Henao's death in November 1998.
He was found dead by Venezuelan authorities on January 30 2008.
